Farking Wheaton w00tstout (an imperial stout brewed with pecans, wheat, rye, and aged in bourbon barrels) was
probably one of my favorite collaboration beers created in 2013. Released last summer, it was an epic imperial stout collaboration between Stone Brewing Company’s Greg Koch, nerd champion and homebrewer Wil Wheaton, and Fark.com founder Drew Curtis.
I had a young edition in July, and an eight month aged bottle this past March. The changes were phenomenal. The beer mellowed into a thick wine-like vintage. I only had two bottles, so that’s as far as I’ll be able to go on those, but rest assured a case will be procured this year.
For 2014, w00tstout 2.0 will feature the return of Wheaton and Curtis, but herald the arrival of Archer actor and Whose Line Is It Anyway? host Aisha Tyler into the mix. The latest version will contain the same base as last year, but with the addition of stone-ground chocolate. It is slated to hit their 13% abv mark as well.
Look for it this summer, hopefully in July.
