Mark January 10th, 2015 on your calendars: Funky Buddha Brewery’s Maple Bacon Coffee Porter bottle release and festival will be back for the second year in early 2015.
The Oakland Park brewery previously hosted a two-per-person bottle release and festival for the sought after beer, which takes the idea of a breakfast porter and amps it up to 11.
I’ve previously reviewed the beer itself [via Broward-Palm Beach New Times] and waxed poetic about the festival itself. In a nutshell, Funky Buddha brings out all of its fan favorites and a few experimental experimental beers (twice the experiments!) to gauge reaction and treat the fans to something unique that they won’t find anywhere else.
John Linn, Funky Buddha Brewery’s ever-present brand manager told me he is planning on more of the same this time around, including expanding a bit to provide more room for people. “This year we expect the fest to be bigger than ever. We’ll be shutting 38th Street down in front of the brewery and throwing a true block party.”
“For people that have been to our major events, expect the same organization and easy going time, but with more space and easier access to beer and food. Of course we’ll have the bottles too, and we plan to up the quantity significantly so that more people will be able to get their hands on the beer.”
Last years festival, which happened to be their first, ran smoothly and without major incident — a world away from some other beer fests that deal with long lines, crowded bottle lines, and other shenanigans. All you need to bring to this is cash and some body spray: beer geeks start smelling after a few hours.
