Pompano Beach’s Bangin’ Banjo Brewery is getting into the dark beer time of year with their Chocolate Covered Peanut Porter.
I try to head down to the brewery when I can (it’s about a 30-40 minute drive from where I live) because the beers they put out are flavorful without being over the top. Their Hop of the Muffin IPA is a personal draw whenever I see them.
This past week, however, I was drawn down to sample this chocolate and peanut concoction.
It pours a decidedly dark, almost black color with a minimal head. Aromas are slightly roast-forward and cocoa-laden, with flavors that match, but with an underbelly of roasted peanut flavor. It’s a solid American porter that draws on the profiles of the peanut to lend it an extra ‘oomph’ of complexity.
It is also available for 32oz and 64oz growlers to take home. Be warned that it might not stick around for too long, as it’s currently been brewed as a single batch.
